caring for your pieces

  • silver

To keep your jewellery looking beautiful for years to come, it’s important to care for each piece properly. Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time, especially when exposed to air, humidity, or chemicals. Personally, I find it doesn't tarnish when I wear it often! I think the oils on our skin can sort of keep the tarnish from building up!

When storing, to maintain that shine, store your silver in a dry, airtight container or a soft pouch. Gently polish with a soft jewellery cloth to remove tarnish, and avoid using harsh cleaners that can damage the finish or any gemstones set in the piece.

    PS

I’ve designed all these pieces (obviously!) with the ocean in mind - it would be a shame for them to stay dry! Salt and chlorine isn’t the end of the world. Enjoy your life! A superrrr chlorine-y spa/jacuzzi can turn the silver black (eeeeeek!) BUT don’t panic, it is temporary… keep wearing the piece for a few days and wash with soap and they should return to normal. x LL

  • gold

Solid gold is a durable and long-lasting material, but it can still scratch or dull with daily wear. To protect your gold jewellery, avoid wearing it during heavy physical activity or while using abrasive products. Clean it occasionally using warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a soft brush, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Regular cleaning helps maintain its rich lustre and prevents buildup from lotions or skin oils.

  • gems & pearls

Gemstones and pearls are delicate and require extra care. Avoid exposing them to perfume & other chemicals, as these can erode finishes and affect their natural beauty. Most of the stones in my pieces have been selected for their durability (sapphires, topaz and tourmaline are all hard-wearing) but opals and pearls are softer and can be scratched by metal.

Pearls, in particular, are organic and porous, covered by a delicate layer of shiny nacre from the oyster they grew inside. Try not to expose pearls to chlorine, salt and sweat. Wipe them gently with a soft cloth after wearing, and store them in a soft-lined box to prevent scratching. With the right care, they can still last lifetimes.
